Intermediate had always been my favorite and best level. I average about two hours of play on that level on Weekends, but hardly any time at all during the week. My first sub-20 came on November 21, 2000 - an 18. Then a month later, a 17. From there, I proceeded to get 4 17's en route to my next record. In April 2001, I was playing for the third hour of the day, and I was struggling to sub-20, when I got the same board that about a million other people got, including Gernot Stania, former world record holder (12), and got a 14. In June 2001, the same sub-20 drought was upon me until I got the same board again! I knew I was going fast but I had no idea how fast until I looked up at the timer and read that beautiful 10. This has come under immense scrutinization lately, but I practically memorized the board after my 14. It was not intentional, but I just watched the 14 video I had so many times, it became part of my subconscious. I was just so obsessed with such a fast board, that by just watching it being played hundreds of times, I unintentionally memorized it. I subconsciously corrected my mistakes and developed the fastest way to clear the board. Im sure Im not the only one to do so now. The way I play is I warm-up with expert for about 30-40 minutes, unless I want to play expert then I won't switch levels, and when I feel warm and loose, I switch to intermediate. I usually play 2 sessions a day (on weekends), each ranging from 40-80 minutes. When I feel the first pains of eye strain, I quit that session and take at least a 3-hour break to recover. My other hobbies include swimming, which I do quite often and have some school records; reading (I enjoy philosophy, politics, physics and social commentary); writing (mostly essays on religion, how much America sucks, and some humor as well); pocket billiards; and sleeping. I am about 2 meters tall (6'7") and wear a size 16(US) shoe. I like hardcore rock and most techno music. My totals for beg. and expert are as follows: |
