Hey there. I first discovered minesweeper in '95, but I didn't start "playing" until the summer of '99. It was then, over three months of back-to-back playing that I got my scores to the decent level of 5-29-116. I quit because I figured I was the best in the world...the truth was a hard shock. The then world records of 1-17-51 put me back behind the mouse again in december and have kept me playing seriously ever since. In the past year and a half my scores have come down a long way...I lucked out with a 1 last june, then I made the 14 and 53 a few months ago. I got my 1000th 4 in april, and I've been in the 60's or lower about 450 times, which isn't that much compared to Lasse. Since then I have been honing my skills, cutting back on flagging and learning to be more efficient. To do so, I recently played a few weeks of straight beginner without flags, and now I'm working on intermediate. Getting a sub-20 isn't that hard considering 84% of the board is empty...eventually you find the knack of opening those spaces as opposed to marking mines. I usually sub-20 a couple times an hour. Besides 'sweeping, I'm a pianist and am studying to become an entomologist (If you don't know what that is, you probably don't want to...I have 169,000 of the critters stored in my room). Hey, and don't forget to check out my site with the world records, sweeping videos and downloads...See you there. Beginner totals: 1x2, 2x32, 3x375, 4x1282 (May 25,2001) CIAO |
