I started playing Minesweeper when I was about 9 years old, and I think I beat Expert 3 times before I stopped playing when I was ten (best times then were about 10/40/230). I started playing again in early 1999 (I think), and in February '99, I broke 200 for the first time (163 - a huge improvement). It was about then that I found that the then world record was 51... Little did I know that just over two years later, I would also have a 51, but this would now be 4 seconds slower than the record. Since that 163 I have played fairly constantly, with a single 2-3 month period when I didn't play over the summer of '99. Recently I have been losing a Minesweeper battle with Sriram Sridharan (who is in my grade at school), who recently became the second known player to break the 50-barrier in Expert, as well as getting a 14 Intermediate. Hopefully I will be able to catch up to him soon. I am not really an Intermediate player - the longest stretch of Intermediate I've played in the last two years is about 45 minutes. I live In Muscat, Oman (Middle East), and my other interests include cricket, squash, mathematics and physics.
